Plot:

A 20-year-old Otaku, Naofumi is suddenly teleported to the Kingdom of Melromarc. He and three others have been chosen as the four Legendary Heroes, prophesied to save the world from a calamity called the Wave.

Every Hero is bestowed a Legendary weapon such as a sword, spear, bow, and shield respectively to save the world from destruction and destroy defeat the Waves.

But, Naofumi is the Shield hero, lacking any offensive power. Being singled out from the group as the weakest hero and being mocked by his fellow heroes, Naofumi is left confused and a bit unsettled by this treatment.

The time comes when he has to set out on his journey and as the other heroes are granted resources and party members, Naofumi has only one adventurer willing to accompany him. Later on, she betrays him and falsely accuses him of taking advantage of her.
